Evidencio: a standardized platform enabling clinical use of (AI) algorithms as certified medical devices.
Clinical (AI) algorithms can support medical decision-making by providing patient-tailored evidence-based recommendations. From May 2021, new European regulation (MDR) came into force, imposing strict requirements on clinical implementation of (AI) algorithms. The complex, time-consuming and costly process of mandatory CE-certification poses significant challenges to researchers planning to bring their algorithm to the market.
Evidencio aims to support the translation of clinical algorithms from research towards clinical practice in a scalable, cost-efficient, and responsible manner. Our web-based platform facilitates all steps of the implementation process: from creation of a user-friendly digital calculator to external validation and integration in third-party applications. Also, Evidencio offers a standardized ISO-13485-certified ‘fast track’ to obtain CE-certification at significantly reduced costs and lead time. CE-certified algorithms can then be licensed to users worldwide.

BIOGRAPHY
Rick Pleijhuis was born on August 26th 1987. In April 2013, he graduated from medical school cum laude at the State University of Groningen. After successfully defending his PhD thesis in 2014, he started his training in internal medicine. In the years thereafter, he co-founded several medical startups, including Evidencio (medical decision support platform) and OSAsense (apnea screening). In 2020, Rick started as an internist-allergist/immunologist at the University Medical Center Groningen.
