Refuse to make unnecessary impact

Of all R's on the R-Ladder, Refuse is listed as the first and most impactful option to reduce impact on the environment. The term "Refuse" is about avoiding an excessive impact on the planet by choosing not to buy products or services that have a high impact on the environment. Instead, alternatives with a lower impact should be selected, or the use of the product can be avoided altogether by changing the way you work. Unnecessary impact of products and services can be caused by poor recyclability, high production (or life cycle) footprint, or high environmental risk (toxicity).
